The Middle East Studies Association (MESA) annual meeting will be held November 22-25, 2014 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. The MESA deadline for submission of individual papers or panels is February 15, 2014.
The American Institute for Maghrib Studies (AIMS) sponsors three panels each year at the annual MESA meeting. AIMS will be accepting proposals for AIMS sponsorship of MESA panels through February 5th. Anyone interested in having AIMS sponsor a panel, please send us your panel abstract and list of presenters by February 5, 2014. To qualify for AIMS sponsorship, the topic must be related to North Africa and the majority of presenters need to be current AIMS members. AIMS is allowed to sponsor only up to three panels and the final selection will be made by committee.
AIMS Travel Awards to MESA:
AIMS offers the Jeanne Jeffers M'rad Graduate Student Travel Award for student members who are giving a paper at MESA on a North African topic. We encourage student members to give papers and apply for this award.
AIMS also supports the I. William Zartman North African Travel Award that provides travel and a stipend for one North African scholar who is selected to give a paper at MESA on a North African topic.
