ARIT SUMMER FELLOWSHIPS FOR INTENSIVE ADVANCED TURKISH LANGUAGE STUDY AT BOĞAZİÇİ UNIVERSITY, ISTANBUL

Application deadline is February 5, 2015

PROGRAM: For summer 2015, the American Research Institute in Turkey will offer full travel and fellowships for approximately 15 advanced students and scholars for participation in the summer program in advanced Turkish language at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul. This intensive program offers the equivalent of one full academic year of study in Turkish at the college level. The fellowships cover round-trip airfare to Istanbul, application and tuition fees, and a maintenance stipend. Full-time students and scholars affiliated at academic institutions are eligible to apply.


APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Use the application form and procedures that are accessible on the web at the ARIT program webpage:

The application includes:

1. Application form and statement of purpose
2. Three letters of reference, including one that addresses your abilities as a language learner
3. Application fee in the amount of $25 may be made through PayPal via the ARIT website.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Full-time students and scholars affiliated at academic institutions are eligible to apply. 

To be a fellowship applicant, you must:
 1. Be a citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States
 2. Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level academic program, or be faculty
 3. Have a minimum B average in current program of study; and
 4. Perform at the high-intermediate level on a proficiency-based admissions examination.

PLEASE NOTE: Boğaziçi University offers intensive Turkish language courses at all levels independent of the ARIT-AATT-Georgetown program. Students of Turkish language may also apply directly to the Boğaziçi University Summer School and seek outside funding through their university department or other source.
